Code of League Ethics And Responsibilities


As a Parent or Guardian of a Child Participating in New City Little League Your responsibilities to your Child's Team are:
  1. To attend all League and Team Meetings.
  2. Turn in MEDICAL FORMS before your child begins participation in any organized Team activity -- before Team practices begin.
  3. Get your child to practice and pick them up on time - Managers and Coaches are not Baby Sitters
  4. Fulfill all TEAM work responsibilities -- including Scoring, Announcing and especially SNACK BAR.
  5. Make sure your child's team has a sponsor.
  6. Solicit Advertisers for the League Journal
  7. Try to find Billboard Advertisers for the League Fields.
  8. Keep facilities Clean ---- use trash containers.
  9. Remember proper field conduct:
    • Root for the Teams and acknowledge good plays by either team.
    • Retrieve Foul Balls.
    • Non-players must STAY OUT of Dugouts, Off Fields and Out of Buildings (without authorization).
    • Abide by all park regulations.
  10. Booing and Negative Displays are never in order and should be discouraged in others.
  11. SHOW SUPPORT FOR THE CHILDREN WHILE THEY PLAY.

I/We hereby pledge to provide positive support, care, and encouragement for my child participating in New City Little League by following this Parents' Code of League Ethics and Responsibilities:

To encourage good sportsmanship by demonstrating positive support for all players, managers, coaches, and officials at every game, practice or other league activities.

To place the emotional and physical well being of my child ahead of a personal desire to win.

To insist that my child play in a safe and healthy environment.

To support the manager, coaches and officials working with my child, in order to encourage a positive and enjoyable experience for all.

To maintain a sports environment for my child that is free from drugs, tobacco, and alcohol, and to refrain from their use at all NCLL events.

To remember that the game is for the children - not for the adults.

To do my very best to make NCLL fun for my child.

To ask my child to treat other players, managers, coaches, spectators and League Officials with respect regardless of race, sex, creed, or ability.

To review with my child the NCLL Code of Conduct and to encourage the positive aspect of the sport at all times.

All sanctions will be imposed by the Director on duty with consultation with the umpire(s) and managers

Listed next to each Infraction are the guidelines for penalties specified by NCLL. The Board of Directors may, if circumstances warrant, impose different penalties.

Rules as they apply to the Conduct for Players:

Use of alcohol, tobacco or other illegal substances In connection with any game, practice or other league or team event at any facility Exclusion from the event and one game suspension.

Letter to League from Parent or Guardian expressing corrective measures to assure future compliance signed by Parent or Guardian and child.

Foul or abusive language or gesture Another player, coach or a spectator*

Ejection from game. Letter of apology to individual with a copy to the League.

Serious foul play Another player (no injury)

Ejection from game and a 2 game minimum suspension

Threatening gesture and/or language A player, coach, official or spectator Ejection from game and a 2 game suspension
2nd occurrences of above infractions   Suspension for balance of season. Letter from parent expressing steps taken to ensure no recurrence signed by Parent or Guardian and child.
Kicking, striking, or bodily assault A player, coach, official or spectator Ejection from game and a 4 game suspension. Letter from parent expressing steps taken to ensure no reoccurrence signed by Parent or Guardian and child.
Kicking, striking, or bodily assault 2nd offense, same season A player, coach, official or spectator Suspension from all NCLL for one year. Letter from parent expressing steps taken to ensure no recurrence signed by Parent or Guardian and child.
  • In all cases, a player or coach includes both NCLL players and coaches and those of the opposing teams; Officials include anyone serving in an official capacity within NCLL, a tournament or league official.

The Penalties may be imposed by the Director on Duty with consultation with the umpire(s) and managers.

Rules as they apply to Managers, Coaches and League Officials:

Knowingly requiring or allowing a player to play while having a serious injury or knowingly creating unsafe play conditions Suspension for the season and re-do NYSCA first year certification

Rules as they apply to Parents and Spectators:

Striking in any threatening fashion A player, manager, coach, league official or spectator Ejection from the facility* and a 1 year suspension from attendance or participation
Striking in any threatening fashion - 2nd offense A player, manager, coach, league official or spectator Permanent suspension from all NCLL activities

* Facility includes the respective playing fields and the surrounding parking lots

Failure to leave the facility upon request may result in the

forfeiture of the game by your children’s team.
